Fri. 16th. Mar. Left Florence this morning with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we felt the need to escape the crowds and the traffic and the noise of the city. It never ends! On the other we couldn't help feeling that we had not seen all there is to see and were afraid we'd missed something!! The need for a little quiet won. We took the ss65 Florence to Bologna road and headed for an ACSI site just north of Barberini Mugello. It's over 2000 metres up in the mountains and the journey and location of the site are idyllic. We have all mod cons, excellent facilities, perfect views but no internet connection with our dongle. Fortunately there is wifi so we are not incommunicado. Have large pork chops for dinner and have purchased a litre of local red wine in a jug. Will report on that tomorrow.
