Kevnjan's big adventure.

Wed. 21st, Mar. Today was a real treat, we walked for miles around Reggio Emelia which took us by surprise. The weather was warm, the city was a mix of old and new, perfectly in tune with each other. The cathedral was attractive and the streets colourful and interesting. It was a great example of what we expect in an Italian town, a certain style, perfectly formed streets and colourful buildings. It's more a feeling, an ambience, that makes you feel comfortable and welcome. Difficult to explain, intangible, but nevertheless a treat. From the park, with it's ancient cypress trees to the piazza, with it's dancing fountains, it all fits together. We sat in the piazza, watched the world go by and ate gelatti, telling each other how lucky we are. We tore ourselves away around 2pm because it was time to head for Parma. All that ham - can't wait.
